ARE YOU TAKING NEW CLIENTS?Yes, we are! Our stylists are some of the most experienced and innovative in St. John’s and we accommodate as many new (or existing) clients as we can.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE COST OF MY SERVICE?It’s important to us that you have full transparency in the pricing as part of your salon experience. Our rates are determined by the time we spend with you, as well as our individual stylists’ skills, experience, and specialties. Our stylists are categorized as Specialist Stylist, Protégé Stylist, or Studio Stylist and per hour pricing applies at a rate of $95/hr, $80/hr, or $60/hr respectively. In addition, we use SalonScale to measure your products, so you’re charged accurately for the amount of product used during your service.

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?To keep our schedule manageable and ensure you get consistent service at every appointment, we book appointments no more than three months out. At the beginning of each month, the third month opens. Typically, available appointments are filled quickly and we encourage clients to reach out as early in the month as possible. *Pro Tip: Think of the month you would like to have your hair appointment and contact us two months prior. For example, if you would like to book for January, contact us Nov. 1. To book your appointment, feel free to call (709)700-2119 to speak with our salon coordinator or e-mail info@seahorsesalon.ca.

WILL I GET A REMINDER FOR MY APPOINTMENT?Yes! We understand life is busy, so we have an automated system which texts you two business days before your appointment. Reply ‘Yes,’ to confirm. If you’d like to add more information, you can contact the salon directly.

HOW CAN I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?You can cancel your appointment directly through the automated appointment reminder (Sent as a text two business days before your appointment) by simply replying ‘No.’ You can also contact the salon directly at info@seahorsesalon.ca or by phone or text at (709)700-2119 to cancel or reschedule. We require 24 hours notice to change or cancel an appointment. A cancellation fee of $40 will be charged before you book your next appointment, should you provide less than 24 hours notice of a change or cancellation.

HOW SHOULD MY HAIR BE PREPPED FOR MY SERVICE?If you are booked for a curly haircut or styling lesson, please arrive with recently-shampooed, detangled hair in the best curl/wave you can achieve. Feel free to use products you typically wear, but avoid hats, braids or ponytails to ensure the best shape for your haircut. If you are booked for a colour service, please arrive with recently-shampooed hair, worn down, and with no product - especially any root cover-up products - in your hair as it can prevent colour from adhering properly.

MY HAIR ISN’T PERFECT. CAN WE ADJUST AFTER THE APPOINTMENT?Absolutely! We want to make sure you LOVE your new hair! We’re happy to adjust any part of your haircut or colour if you are not happy. Please reach out within three business days and we’ll be happy to have you come back in with your stylist for a little adjustment as soon as possible. There are no refunds for any service.

DO YOU HAVE PARKING?There is on-street parking available in front of the salon on both sides of Harvey Road. You can use the Pay to Park kiosk just feet away from the salon with debit or credit. You can also pay to park with the PayByPhone app available in your mobile app store. Parking charges are approximately $3.50 for a two hour visit. The visit is free after 6pm, and free on weekends.

I’M NERVOUS GETTING MY HAIRCUT. CAN I BRING A FRIEND?Seahorse Salon is a cozy space with a relaxed atmosphere, however, we cannot accommodate those who are not parents/guardians or a care/support person. We kindly ask you to not bring your children with you to your appointment, as we have nowhere for them to sit.

WHY ARE CHILDREN’S HAIRCUTS THE SAME CHARGE AS ADULTS HAIRCUTS?We take extra care with our kiddo clients and we usually spend a little more time with them than our adult clients. If your child is under 12, and you have booked them for a curly care haircut and lesson, be prepared to be present at their appointment. We love helping little ones to accept their natural hair, but sometimes they need a little reminder of their lesson once they get home. It is a great help to your child when you share the same thorough understanding and help between visits to the salon.

WHY DO YOU CARRY THE HAIRCARE BRANDS THAT YOU DO?A huge part of teaching you to love your hair is showing you how to use specialized products for your hair’s health. We choose the brands we do based on the ingredients and how they will make your curls shine! Healthy hair is our number one priority!

DO ANY OF YOUR STYLISTS DO EXTENSIONS, BRAIDS, DREADLOCKS, OR PERMANENT STRAIGHTENING SERVICES?We focus on the natural style of the hair you have, so these services are outside the scope of our work.
